10th Annual Meeting of the Network for Legislative Cooperation between the Ministries of Justice of the European Union (NLC-EU / Legicoop)
On 21 September 2018 the 10th Annual Meeting of the Network for Legislative Cooperation between the Ministries of Justice of the European Union (Legicoop) took place under the Austrian Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the Austria Center Vienna.
This network serves as a platform for the members states to exchange information on existing legislation in the different judicial systems as well as on law reform projects. The correspondents of the member states meet once a year.
Representatives of the individual member states, the European Commission, the Secretariat‑General of the Council as well as the Network’s administration – which is assured by the French Ministry of Justice – participated in this meeting. The purpose of the meeting was to analyse the activities of the past year and to discuss the future of the network, including how to increase the visibility of the network and its activities.
The event also focused on the presentation of current legislative questions and issues. This year, high-level representatives from the Federal Ministry of Constitutional Affairs, Reforms, Deregulation and Justice addressed these questions once again in their presentations on the civil law topic “The new adult protection law in Austria” and the criminal law topic “Audio‑visual recording of criminal trials”.
