Informal ministerial meeting
Informal meeting of gender equality ministers
The Austrian Presidency of the Council of the European Union cordially invites EU gender equality ministers to an informal meeting.
In a recent survey conducted in the EU28, more than nine out of ten respondents stated that promoting gender equality was important for ensuring a fair and democratic society (Special Eurobarometer 465: Gender Equality 2017). Meanwhile, recent discussions have demonstrated that gender equality has become a less important item on the EU’s working agenda. Bringing gender equality back on the EU’s list of priorities is a common goal of the Trio Presidency of Estonia, Bulgaria and Austria. The aim of the high-level discussion is to have an initial and open exchange of ideas about possible ways to launch these actions and to implement them in a sustainable way.
Juliane Bogner-Strauss, Austrian Federal Minister for Women, Families and Youth, will chair the meeting.
