„Memory of War – Europe of Peace“ in Le Havre and Sainte Adresse (European citizens' consultation + commemoration to mark the Centenary of the end of the First World War)
The duty to remember and a Europe of peace
On 6 and 7 October, the cities of Le Havre and Sainte Adresse in Normandy organise a meeting between 450 young Norman middle and high-school students and the representatives of 17 embassies of member states of the European Union. The topics of discussion will be the duty to remember and the idea of a Europe of peace. Michael Linhart, the Ambassador of Austria will chair the meeting in his capacity as representative of the country currently holding the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The students will present their work, their visions of Europe, and their expectations and proposals to the representatives.
These meetings have been labelled as “Citizens' consultations on Europe”.
